Eva Hohn

Eva Höhn is a member of the Union of Germanists and Teachers of Slovakia and member of the Center for Language and Language Practice (CLLP) of the Faculty of Arts. She conducted research at the University of Vienna (Austria) and the University of Duisburg-Essen (Germany). She is the author of several monographs on Austrian and German literature and cultural identity. Her pedagogical experience relates to the Cultural Identity of Austria; Beginning of German culture in Europe; Identities and cultures of Germany after 1945.

Jana Pecníková

Jana Pecníková is an assistant professor at Matej Bel University, Faculty of Arts in Banska Bystrica, Slovakia. Jana Pecníková is a member of Department of Romance  Studies and a teacher of academic subjects focused on cultural studies, European active citizenship, Cultural and political institutions in EU and History of EU. In her research she deals with cultural identity & heritage, interculturality and cultural-social forms of European active citizenship. She participates in many Slovak and international projects and conferences in cooperation with e.g. Jagellonian University, Poland; Université Paris 13, France. She often attends educational and research activities in Slovakia and abroad.

Jana Javorčíková

Associate Professor Jana Javorčíková has an expertise in the field of teaching cultural studies of English speaking countries (Great Britain, the North America and Canada), intercultural relations of the aforementioned countries as well as interactions of culture and literature. Co-existence of cultures, translation of cultural codes enhancing tolerance to otherness were always the primary gist of curricula in these subjects. Each year, the courses are attended by average of 200 students. Many of graduates have become professional leaders (e.g. members of the president´s office) and influential educators nationally and internationally. Jana Javorčíková is  the President of the Slovak section of the European Association of Canadian Studies (CEACS).

Anna Vaňová

Associate Professor Anna Vaňová is a member of the Department of Public Economics and Regional Development at Faculty of Economics, Matej Bel University. She is a representative of the Slovak Republic in the Presidium of the International Association of Public and nonprofit marketing - IAPNM ( since 2009 to present); Member of the editorial board of the journal International Review on Public and Nonprofit Marketing, publisher: SPRINGER (since 2010 to present); Member of the Nispacee, member of the Regional Science Association International, a member of the Slovak section RSAI (since 2010 to present), member of ERSA (since 2010 to present), member of Slovak Smart City Cluster; Project leader or member of the project team in more than 50 international or Slovak research projects or applied researches.

Monika Banaś

Associate Professor Monika Banaś graduated with a degree in management and Swedish philology from Jagiellonian University, where she was awarded a doctorate in the field of management in 2002 and a postdoctoral degree in political science in 2012. Her research focuses on the Nordic societies & cultures and deals with the interconnections between culture, politics, and economy. She gives lectures on Introduction to Intercultural Relations, Institutions in Intercultural Relations, Nordic Cultures and Societies and Understanding Culture and Politics. Monika Banaś is the director of the Institute of Intercultural Studies, part of the Faculty of International and Political Studies of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow.

Ľudmila Mešková

Associate Professor Ľudmila Mešková focuses on intercultural relations in economic practice (intercultural communication), intercultural differences in business negotiations, corporate culture, intercultural management, terminology and professional phraseology in economic and financial fields. She is the author of several publications and director of projects.  She has been given lectures  at various universities abroad such as France, Spain, Italy, Russia, Brasil, and others.She was an initiator of the double degree program of students at the Faculty of Economics with the French universities in Poitiers and Reims

Zuzana Bohušová

Professor Zuzana Bohušová has been working at the Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica since 1992. She was inaugurated as a professor in the foreign languages and cultures branch. Prof. Bohušová’s research focus is significantly determined by interdisciplinarity, interculturality and transculturality. Her research emphasises the primacy of oral communication, oral skills and pronunciation, and interpreting as a form of oral bicultural communication. Zuzana Bohušová is the founder and publisher of the journal "Translation Studies and its Context" which became a recognised platform for international scientific discussion in the field of translation and interpreting theory. The fourth, fifth and sixth volumes are indexed in the Web of Science.

Anita Huťková

Assistant Professor Anita Huťková is a member of the team at the department of Slovak language and communication, Faculty of Arts, Matej Bel University. The focus of her research activities is on the current state of translation in Slovakia focusing on socio-cultural aspects (globalization, integration, pluralization, multiculturalization). She links linguistic and translatological thinking in her pedagogical and research activities. She participated in several projects as coordinator or a staff member. She is an author of teaching texts in the theory of translation and linguistics. In her research, Anitka Hutkova focuses on the function of translation in intercultural and transcultural communication.

Ivan Šuša

Associate Professor Ivan Šuša is currently staying at the University of Bologna, Faculty of Translation and Interpreting of Modern Languages ​​and Faculty of Political Sciences, Italy. He is an editor of the journal New Philological Review (Nová filologická revue), member of the Scientific Council of the Romanistica Comenian (Comenius University, Bratislava, member of the Commission for Creation and Drawing of the Social Fund of Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica, member of the Academic Senate of FF UMB, Vice-Dean for Development, Informatics and Public Relations FF UMB (years 2017 and 2018).

INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION AS A CORE PART OF THE PROJECT

The project improves conditions for the EU research. One of the most important factors is the international collaboration with Assistant professor Monika Banas from Jagiellonian University in Cracow (Poland), former Director of the Institute of Intercultural Studies. The Jean Monnet-Modules project enables her to share her knowledge with the students. Monika Banas is expert for international relations and economics and migration policy the European Nordic countries.
